Day 8

As it was a late ending to yesterday it was a late start to today

We were in no rush

Breakfast was more of a brunch and I decided to reflect that in my choice by having Spanish omelette whilst Joss stuck to toast and jam

We then went for a wander

And despite all her efforts Joss could not find her shoe shop

Unfortunately for me, she found a DIFFERENT shoe shop that had the same shoes - so I was no better off

We did a bit more shopping before dropping the bags off to go out for lunch

We decided to go to our bar for pre meal drinks then back to the restaurant of yesterday

The first part went well with the red wine still delicious but at the restaurant we were accused of queue jumping by a waiter who clearly didn’t know what he was talking about

That was until Joss explained in very fine detail before we left in a huff

That restaurant’s loss was our gain as we found another and Joss had beef in a stroganoff sauce whilst I had chicken and pork paella

As you can see, I won the quantity competition but Joss’ was equally delicious

It was really hot at this point so we decided to go into the Carmen Thyssen museum

Again no pictures allowed but this time I think it was to spare the artists’ blushes

I could have done better than most and has quite inspired us both to put paint to canvas

We consoled ourselves by having some ice cream before heading home for a siesta - I won’t be sleeping much tonight so need to get shut eye when I can .....

Well I had an hour so I can’t complain and when Joss arose we had our last bottle of wine chilling in the fridge and went out to eat

This had to be a night of sensible choices as the alarm waking us up at 03:30 tomorrow is not going to be kind

As you walk from our apartment our immediate “lane” is not that busy, but cross to the next and you can hardly  move

It was like being in Covent Garden or Times Square - this alone is enough to give Seville the edge over Malaga

However, we did manage to find an outside table at an Italian place and ordered garlic bread with mozzarella for starters

It was delicious

My only problem was that with every mouthful of beer, my stomach started to hurt

I think a full week of excess had finally caught up with me

Joss had no such problems :-)

For main course we both went for creamy mushroom pasta dishes - mine was ravioli

Again, beautiful food

Unfortunately though , making a sensible choice, my drinking evening was over, but I was happy to go to our bar to let Joss have one final drink

She didn’t want to though so we just walked past to say goodbye and it had that many people in it we couldn’t possibly have got in, so that eased the disappointment on my part considerably

Once home we (I) had a 15 minute rest and we packed / tidied / washed up ready for a hasty exit tomorrow

I’ve had a wonderful time but there is part of me now yearning sobriety and getting back to the gym

One promise I have made to myself though - no scales before November....
